Tips For Making Your Wedding Guest List
Posted by Mean on 02/3/08 in Uncategorized
One of the most difficult things you will probably have to do when planning your wedding ceremony and reception is to narrow down the guest list. It can be difficult to get the number of wedding guests down to a reasonable number. Often it will take some compromises on both your part and the grooms part as well. Whether you are having 50 people or 500 people, it will probably be a challenge to get the list down to size. The following are a few tips that can help you make your wedding guest list.
Have a Limit
Before you even start talking names, make sure that you have a limit of people that you can invite to your nuptials. It can be far too easy to keep adding to your guest list until it gets out of control. Discuss how many people you can afford to have at your wedding, come up with a number, and then stick to it.
Avoid Inviting People You Aren’t Close To
Sure, at one time you may have been close to your high school friend, but if you are no longer close and you have not spoken to her in years, then there is no need to invite her. Anyone that you have not been close to or spoken to in years can safely be cut from the wedding guest list.
Make it Adults Only
If you need to cut down on the number of wedding guests on your list, then a fairly easy way to do so is to cut out the children. This can help cut down your cost and will make room for some other people you really need at your wedding ceremony and reception.
Make Two Lists
Another way that you can come up with the wedding guest list is to initially come up with two separate lists. On the one list, write down the people who you definitely want to be there. Then, on the other list, have the people who you would only like to be there. If it comes to cutting people from the list, only cut people from the second list.
It can definitely be quite tough to narrow down your guest list, but it does not have to be impossible. Remember, your wedding reception and ceremony is about you and your happiness, not making sure that every third cousin is at the wedding.
